Musician’s Friend
Over the years our team made a number of large improvements to the site. The promotional pieces were done by another team, while the design and layout was handled by the UX/UI group. I was primarily responsible for implementing new ideas, but contributed to a number of the designs. Some of the designs I was responsible for include the product pages, brand pages (link) and the redesign of the newsletter. I also implemented a number of .NET web services on the product pages that return the similar items and recommended accessories.
- Musician’s Friend Newsletter – Old & New
- Product Page Example
- Brand Page Example
- Top Navigation – Our old navigation was image based, so I recoded it to use text to help with SEO. This was accomplished using the sliding doors technique.
Guitar Center
Guitar Center has gone through a number of changes over the years. There’s been a number of redesigns and implementations as it was moved from Cold Fusion, to a Perl driven solution and is currently residing in a C#.NET environment. I was responsible for a large portion of the design and implementation of this site including the product pages, genre pages and the search results. This was quite a challenge because of the amount of coding that had to be done to integrate our design into the existing eCommerce platform.
Music 123
I was primarily responsible for the design and implementation of the product pages. These pages rely heavily on jQuery for the scrolling image widgets, accessories and the “lightbox” style popup when a user clicks on an image.
